Hi
I got settle status and have applied my brc with pre settle into settle status. Did application onlone on link for replacement of BRC.
Can any one advise or share experience
Applied on 15 sept,20
Bio metric: 14 October
Email received for re confirm for replacement card on : 30 sept
After that still waiting for decision and didnt get any reply. I have sent an email to then on APAD and they said 8 weeks processing time and it is more than 8 weeks now, not sure if processing time start after bi metrics. I am why it is taking too long only changing brc from pere settle status to settle status (already granted).
Can any one tell how long it gona take.
Cheers

Hi,
Almost same situation.
My daughter was allowed to apply via the app and her 8 weeks are done tomorrow. I had to pay for an appointment and my 8 weeks are due next friday, so far no news.
I used the app and attended in person, both cases got the email from APAD to check if I was sure, both cases we replied with a yes, no communication since.

Is the APAD email the only way to ask to check the status of the application? any other timelines around?
I'm hoping to go on vacation in December after the lockdown and come back early next year, but I won't go unless I have that card.

I'm not sure, I just took it as the last of my activities (my biometrics or my daughter doing the app thing).
If it is from form submissions it would be like 2.5 months for both of us. I assume they will only count from when they have the form + biometrics so I'm counting from the last of my "activities"

Daughter
Form Submission: 01/09/2020
APAD Email: 14/09/2020

APAD Email: 10/09/2020
Biometrics: 25/09/2020

Hi everyone,

I am a non-EEA unmarried partner of an Italy national. I have a BRC issued under EEA regulations which expires on 30/06/2021 and I also got the presettle status recently, however I have not switched to the settlement BRC yet. I have heard some people saying that if I have plan to travel to the EU then it’s better to hold onto my current BRC rather than switching now as I can use the BRC to travel without visa. Have someone actually done this and can you please share some experience? I have plan to travel with my partner to Italy in 2/3 months, so I’m debating whether to switch cards now or not.

I tried to research on this but everyone says different things - some people say I need to bring with me proof of relationship like marriage certificate, but I don’t have such documents as I am just an unmarried partner. If I get stopped at custom, will they allow me to do a visa on the spot or most likely they’ll send me back?

Many thanks!

Hi,

As far as I understand this (not an expert so better double check).
- The EEA BRC allows you to travel to EU countries and acts like a Visa.
- Not everyone is familiar with this but I've read on this forum people saying that eventually after explaining, them checking, etc etc etc, they let them in.
- The EUSS looks just like your EEA BRC but instead of having the phrases related to EEA is says related to EUSS.
- The EUSS does not replace a visa like your EEA BRC does at the moment, so you are not going to be able to use it to enter EU countries, reason why people were told to wait a bit to apply for it as you'll lose this benefit.
- The EEA BRCs are going to expire on 31st December 2020, no matter what is says in the card.

From what you mention, if you plan on travelling after 31st December, and your passport does not allow visa-free travel and just staying like a tourist, you might have trouble boarding the plan there or getting through customs.

If they allow you in, on your way back you will try and board the plane and the only thing you will have is your pre-settled status (since EEA BRC is no longer valid), but that can only be checked online. As far as I know they airline counter system does not have a connection to this, the guy in the counter would need to access the gov website and check this, I'm not sure if everyone is aware of this or how it works. Since you won't have a physical proof that you can stay here, it might be tricky.

Based on all the above (which is just my understanding, please double check that), I was going to travel in December and come back in January so I decided to go for the EUSS BRC, my passport allows 3 months to Shengen Area so nothing lost on the EEA BRC, but I don't want to risk the way back.
In my particular case, I applied, couple weeks later the biometrics (had to pay for an appointment) and then about 8 weeks wait, so you should be ok to get it before you travel if that is what you want to go for.

Hope it helps!

Hi All,
Another update as today I received my card so timelines are up to date. Still waiting for a decision for my daughter, it appears that using the app ID takes a lot more than going through the biometrics, or the paid biometrics at least.

@aw17 have you completed your application? I have the biometrics appointment on the 7th of December and was wondering how long it takes to get the replacement EUSS RC? and also whether we have to return our EEA RCs?

Would really appreciate this info!
Thank you x

Says that my application been cancelled ...
Hi
Just need some info if you can give please , so after submitting application if you will not attend biometric appointment or will not upload documents your application will be cancelled or you have to ask them to cancel your application when they send you email to ask you want to proceed or not.
Other thing if you cancel your application it can affect your settled status ?

For me I have received email asking me if I want to go ahead with the application before my biometric so I refused to go ahead at that time and I cancelled my biometric appointment.

No affect at all

Looks like we do not need to change the card to the settlement one, according to the update added today.

https://www.gov.uk/guidance/visiting-th ... nuary-2021

If you’re a non-EEA family member of an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen
You will need a valid national passport, and one of the following:

an EU Settlement Scheme family permit
a UK-issued EEA family permit
a UK-issued biometric residence card

From that text I understood that unlike for EU, EEA or Swiss citizen that need only a passport or ID/have Status to cross the border, non-EEA family members need
"an EU Settlement Scheme family permit
a UK-issued EEA family permit
a UK-issued biometric residence card " in a form of a physical document. I didn't see a phrase "need to have a settled or pre-settles status" in regards to non-EEA family members.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

Anyway my timeline is:
Card Replacement Form Submission: 13/11/2020
APAD Email: 11/12/2020
Biometrics: 14/12/2020 (have been told by EUSS support that Biometrics cannot be reused  )
APAD Email - successful: ?
Card Received: ?
