Proof of public health insurance in the UK

Post by Zerubbabel » Mon Nov 30, 2020 10:19 am

Hello

For immigration purposes within the EU, I need a document from the UK that says I have been medically insured and/or eligible to use NHS during the last 12 months.

Any idea what kind of document demonstrates that?

I suppose it's your NHS registration number - your GP should be able to give you the number and perhaps some kind of confirmation. They used to issue cards with that information but not sure if they still do. Also, from your HMRC account you can download a letter confirming your NI number - NI contributions go towards NHS services.

Thank you for your input.

I found my NIN letter on the Gov.uk website, but it doesn't refer to medical coverage and there is no date on it.

The GP couldn't help. They are too busy at the moment. I was hopping to find some proof of entitlement on my Gov.uk profile

What is the gov.uk profile?
Health services is a benefit though - but of course it doesn't say NHS ....

Your UK-issued EHIC Card?

Thank you Simon. I requested an EHIC card. Apparently, they accept it as a proof.
