If you have told the office at the border, and they allowed you in on the basis of joining your EU spouse, then you should be able to register. You should talk to the officer explaining your situation.
Took another appointment for the temp Stamp4 and managed to get it stamped which is valid till 27 nov 2020.
What happens next how do I get the final approval. Do I have to do it online and send the passport for stamping or just the IRP card is sent.

If you live in Dublin, when you receive your final decision letter, you will simply use the online renewal portal. Just create a renewal application, scan your final decision letter and a few other required document, and send your passport and IRP by registered mail.

So the final decision is still pending. My temp stamp 4 is expiring on 27 Nov, I did get an email last time asking for the EU spouses employers email which I replied with. Since the temp stamp 4 is expiring this month, will I need to renew it if the final decision does not come by 27 nov. or do we get an automatic extension till Jan 2021 due to the panademic.

Hi there,

Yes you’ll get an automatic extension till Jan 2021. My temporary stamp 4 had been expired since June and I emailed them and this is what they told me so you’ll be fine.

Oh really, so you waiting for the final decision since June. I thought they cannot take more than 6 months to make the final decision.

Hi everyone,

It's been more than 6 months since I received the acknowledgment letter for my Application, 2 weeks ago I wrote them requesting an update, they replied saying my application is in line to be processed and asking for proof of address which I submitted and I haven't got an answer since then.

- Application received: 20 January 2020 (9 months+)
- Acknowledgment letter: 22 April 2020 (6 months+)

I know my temporal Stamp 4 has been automatically extended until January 2021. My concern is about my application and finally getting a Permanent Residence Card which makes things easier and life more stable in terms of job-seeking, traveling, and general rights.

Should I write and request an update again or what other recommendations or options do I have?

Thanks for your help in advance!!

That’s what I thought as well, and I’ve been keep emailing them about update etc and they just gave me the same response. Some people do get the result in the timeframe but it could be my application is more complicated than others, so it’s really hard to tell.

Hi there,

If you’ve already requested an update 2 weeks ago there’s no point to ask them again tbh. For my experience, they have already asked for my proof of address & my EU partner’s employer details each time I asked for an update. It’s just copy & paste email from them. Whenever they are processing your application they will contact you I’d say.

Thanks for the answer, yeah that's exactly what has happened to me, just asked for spouse employer details and proof of address... It's a bit annoying and frustrating that we're not able to do anything other than wait when we're entitled to a response, especially after the stipulated 6 months...

Has anyone got lucky with the final decision. I am still waiting while my temp stamp will end of Nov.

Have seen that we get an automatic extension till Jan, so does it mean that the application will be kept pending till than rather than the 6 months period by which a decision needs to be made.

Hello everyone,

Just wanted to share my timeline in case it helps anyone:

Application: 10/20/2019
Temp Stamp 4: December 2019 (I don't remember the date)
In January they requested some additonal paperwork, which was provided at that time.
Covid happened, and my temp stamp was extended multiple times
Final decision: November 2020
Garda appointment for Stamp 4EUFAM: now scheduled for December 8, 2020.

So for me, the entire process took 14 months.

Hey, thank you very much for sharing. 14 months is indeed too long a waiting period. I submitted in
June 2020, guess I will have to wait til Aug 2021. 😭😭😭

Do you mind sharing how long did they offer you duration of visa?

Thank you.

I'll have a 5 year stamp 4EUFAM, and at the end of that I'll be eligible for permanent residency.

EU1 Application

Date of Application: 03/09/2019

Date of Stamp 4: 19/10/2019
Date of Stamp 4 extension: 22/05/2020

That’s like more than a year 😳. Was the extension provided due to the COVID delay or due to requirement of mor documents. Did you have to follow up. This is quiet stressful.

I requested an update/extension citing job issues. Probably granted due to covid. Hang in there

Hi everyone. Just sent my application recently. Parent of a minor British citizen here.

Date of Application: 09/09/2020
Date of Acknowledgement letter sent: 05/10/2020 request of 12 income statement and 12 months bank statements
Date of Stamp 4 received: -
Date of final approval or refusal: -
Still no temporary stamp 4. I emailed treaty rights, was told that a letter was issued recently from their office, no idea what letter it is. That was a month ago, no sign of that letter. Asked for an update again, no reply. Been here for 4 months now. Automatic extension is a month to go. :|

Hi there!

From what I know if you’re in a process of applying, you will be fine to be staying in the state anyway. And I think all the valid visa should be automatically extended until January 2021 so I would say you will be okay. It’s just a little bit frustrating with the situation cause without the letter from the department we basically can’t renew our IRP card that’s why :/

It is really a long waiting game.

I had requested for an update since my stamp4 got expired in Nov. Received an acknowledgement letter with extension till feb 2021. The letter states that I have to visit the Burgh Quay office again to get my passport stamped.
While the website states that if you have an IRP card we can renew it online. I am a bit confused.

I’m actually getting a little bit confused here as well.. cause I thought all the visa has been automatically extended until January but they sent you another acknowledgement letter for renewal..? That’s not the same as what they told me lol
And there’s a new way published now tho so passport doesn’t need to be stamped anymore, just need the IRP card, so I really not sure what are they on about.

Yes me too. I was expecting a final decision before the end of 6 months. But since that didn’t happen I followed up asking for update on the case.

It is as if they are just waiting for you, not be able to afford to live here anymore and just give up. Running out of resources now, no chance to earn extra money, and cost of living is so high. ☹
