Hounslow Council:

Update: Attended my virtual ceremony today. £125.
Forgot to mention the details:

Virtual ceremony took 6 minutes.

The registrar gave me an option to come and collect the certificate after virtual ceremony. I collected right after within 20 minutes after virtual ceremony. The envelope was sealed and said “delivered by hand.” I was provided with TWO certificates.
1) Home Office official naturalisation certificate with registrar sign and date.
2) Certificate by the London Mayor of Hounslow with Registrar signature and date also (welcoming to become a British Citizen).

I applied for my British Passport today and posted documents to HMPO also. Return my ILR BRP also. Off to the British Passport thread now.

Good luck everyone.
Congrats and I saw your passport thread you have been Liverpool so I think your passport processing will be sooner.
I was assigned Newport passport office so took sometime to receive passport.
I submitted my application for passport on 15th December and received in my hand on14th Jan.
Also I received new passport and supporting docs in same envelope.

Anyone recently attended ceremony in manchester city council? I got an email from them saying they will send out their own emails with their own invitation. Waiting times 2 begins.

Thank you. I have not seen many cases go to Liverpool though. Not sure why I was assigned Liverpool

Approved on 12 oct 2020
Received invitation letter 13.01.2021
Virtual ceremony on 27.01.2021 free of charge with Staffordshire council

These are the instructions which came in the email -
Please have your invitation letter issued from the Home Office ready. (The letter stating you application was successful)

A valid form of photographic ID is required (e.g. passport, travel document, driving licence or biometric residence card) will also be required

Your ceremony cannot proceed without both of the above documents

Your citizenship ceremony will take approximately 15 minutes or less

Your naturalization certificate will be sent to the address on your Home Office invitation letter by secure delivery within 3-5 working days. You will need to sign for delivery

It is not possible for your certificate to be sent to a different address, if you have moved in the meantime you need to inform the Home Office of your new address and your certificate will not be sent until the new address is confirmed by the Home Office

It is not possible to collect your certificate from our office

Please let us know if you have any special needs, e.g. language difficulties

I am from Manchester Council aswel,I received the same email from them when I asked them about ceremony. I hope they solve this ASAP.

It is really annoying. It was bad enough that we had to wait for months for the invitation from home office now we have to wait for council to send us invite. It is seriously affecting my mental health now

It is very annoying isn't it :( I feel the same, everything takes ages. Max time for the approval (6 month) then (3 month) for the invitation and now I think it's at least 3 more month if not more to actually do the ceremony. It's like a full year :?

Hi

Ealing council send me an email few days ago.

“”Thank you for your email.

Congratulations on your successful application for British Citizenship.
We are aware that you may have received your Home Office letter which states that you need to book a ceremony within 21 days, but we can confirm that all citizens have 6 months to attend their ceremony and we will ensure that you are allocated a ceremony before your deadline expires.
Currently we are focusing on accommodating citizens whose ceremonies were scheduled for January but have been cancelled due to the current nationwide lockdown.
Once we are able to book your ceremony, we will contact you either by email or by post.

Our resources are currently being redirected to assist with the excess volume of death registrations, therefore we ask that you do not contact us and wait for us to contact you.
We thank you in advance for your patience.””

They didn’t mention anything about cancellation. Their website says public ceremony are cancelled and there’s nothing about private. How do you know all ceremony are cancelled? I thought they are still doing private.

Surprised they address people as citizens when clearly they are not yet citizens, that council must be a zoo....
