T2G recent redundancy: time to receive curtailment letter from HO

Post by nowhat » Sat Nov 07, 2020 2:46 pm

Hi guys, for those on Tier 2 General who have been made redundant in recent months, could you drop a line here on how long it took HO to issue you the visa curtailment letter? Also, if you were able to find a new sponsor, how long did it take you?

Thanks a million in advance & good luck all!

We don't need a general topic discussing this.

Curtailment letters take a few months to get sent out. How long it takes to find a sponsor, who is willing to sponsor in these difficult times when many British and settled citizens are losing their jobs, is wholly dependent on your job and skillset.

Thanks for your reply. Would be good to see how things have changed during Covid so that people in similar unfortunate situations can prepare accordingly.

HI,
As your query relates to my situation.
once you are made redundant, after your last working day were you able to check your right to work status from
https://right-to-work.service.gov.uk/prove/brp-number

For me, from past few days it says we cannot show your details. I am sure its not issue with the server as my friends were able to get their details,

FYI, My last working day was Oct 31st 2020.

My personal experience (before pandemic):
Made redundant: July 2019
Found a new job (CoS received): January 2020 (it took me almost 6 months to get a new CoS)
No curtailment letter received.

The current scenario is completely different because the pandemic, so finding a new job heavily depends on your skills and a touch of luck I guess.

The time for receiving a curtailment letter from HO seems like a lottery. However I would suggest to not overthink about the curtailment letter, put all your focus on applying for jobs.

Made redundant in April 2020
Got new offer and new COS in Dec 2020

Didn't receive the curtailment letter.
