I'm with Paddy on the court process. I wish I knew about it before - the process leading up to taking it to court takes time (get an FOI, Find a lawyer, lawyer sends threatening letters to INIS, Set court date, wait for a decision etc).

Why do you advise people to go via JR after waiting for 2+ years? why minimum 2 and not sooner (say 1 year or 1.5 year)

If more people go for JR like you did, I am sure this will give some pressure to the department. Like you said, if someone has been waiting for like 3 or 4 years really should go down this route.
You will get decision in time if you go to JR and also you have more chance to get a positive decision through the JR then if you do it alone , they won’t care too much but if you push them they can’t give you a negative decision, becouse they should have a strong reason if they give you a negative decision otherwise you can also sent them to court to get your right decision even if you get a negative decision from them it’s the court who will be looking agein your case and see what decision you deserve, so in most of this cases who’s been waiting over 2 years the best chance it’s go to high court and ask for your rights 🤞
Becouse the solicitor won’t go to high court unless 2 years have been passed already, 1 years and 6 months it’s nothing too wait for the decision

This 2 years timeframe from solicitor is good to know man!

Wife finally received approval letter today with declaration form by post and 950 needs to be paid online. Applied July 2017.
We requested foi earlier this year. She is Indian but but was written Pakistani in one page. Emailed citizenship about error. Received an email last week that file is updated with correct nationality.
Received the letter today

Did your approval letter have a 'Citizenship Group Number' ?- I think this is required in order to submit payment online.

Have you taken passport picture by a photo app. All photo shops are closed during lockdown

Not yet, will have to find a good photo app or perhaps automatic machine to assist with it.

I think Taki there might be a problem with the new online system (I could be wrong though). Also, were you able to successfully upload any of the required documentation? It seems like it does not successfully do this? (or is the a file size issue?)

Congrats, I used not to believe in favouring some nationalities over the others, but from this case do you think changing nationality had triggered the approval? Is it the FOI request itself? Is it your shaking of your application that brought it into light? Or this is a recent policy to clear the old applications?

It’s hard to say if it will be approved otherwise or not. But if we didn’t request foi then we will never correct the mistake and the approval letter will have wrong nationality meaning further delay to correct it before naturalisation certificate is issued.
In the file it says three places Indian passport no. Xxxxxxxxx but in the beginning it said nationality Pakistan and tucked in front. I don’t know if the case worker mixed two files or just did this error

It says no on the online portal to enter CMU2. However on the payment screen after entering my card details it wouldn't work. Don't know if anyone has similar issue or the issue is with my bank
