IRP expiry

Can someone please explain if 10 years residency means 10 years visa on the passport/IRP card straight or it is 5 years and 5 years. Thanks

The permission is given for 10 years. The expiry of the IRP card cannot exceed your passport expiry date, which is almost always less than 10 years.

For example if your passport expires in 2 years, your IRP card will be valid for 2 years. Once you get a new passport, you will get a new IRP with the remaining 8 years.

Thanks littler for your response, as you said my previous passport was valid for 2.5 years so i my was also valid for 2.5 years. But lastmonth I renewed my passport for 10 years and applied for the card again and today I received my card valid for only lets says another 2.3 years. Whereas it should be valid for next 7.5 years.
Should i get in touch with or what? Do you have any info on this?

On what basis did you get your 10-year residence permission?

If it says 10 years then it should just be 10 years.

I m on stamp 4eufam. Divorced from an eu citizen got retention on individual and personal basis before getting 10 years residency. Another thing I noticed that on this new card, there’s a new line added( family member of an eu citizen, on my previous card it wasn’t there)

Ok in that case it is definitely 10 years. You should contact INIS and ask why you were not given that length.
