Hello

Yes, it's fine. They don't check your immigration status for tests and vaccines. These as free for anyone regardless of status in the country.

The UK are only vaccinaing those age 65 and over at the moment. When all these have been vaccinated, the UK will move to the next group, those age 60 to 64; then when those have been vaccinated they move to the next group of those age 55 to 59 etc. Those younger than this who are classed as extreemly vunerable, will receive a letter to book their test and that letter being sent will be based on their health record with the NHS.All this of course, depends on vaccines being received.

Once allowed to book, it takes in excess of 2 weeks to get the first vaccine and the second vaccine is 11 weeks later. What age group are you in and when does your visit to the UK end?

For a covid test, only if you have one of these 3 symptoms

a high temperature
a new, continuous cough
you’ve lost your sense of smell or taste or it’s changed

You were required to self isolate when you entered the UK.

It's not just case of visiting a GP and asking to be vaccinated. The UK have vaccine centres and when it is the turn of your age group, you book online for the first and second vaccine appointments. When you book the first, they only offer a date for the second of 11 weeks later.

Some GPs have grouped together for vaccines for their patients, but these too have to be booked for the first appointment, if you are in the age group being vaccinated. It appears you can only book the first vaccine for these as they don't know when they will receive vaccines.

Some things to maybe think about. If you are in the age group for a vaccine in the UK but can only get 1 vaccine berfore your visit is over, will your country give you the second vaccine on your return? Will they have the same vaccine as you were given in the UK? The UK states second vaccine before 12 weeks (which is why these are given at 11 weeks), but what does your country state?

It looks like Australia have only just started their vaccination programme? They will be having priority vaccination groups too.

It is advantageous for the UK to test and vaccinate for COVID regardless of immigration status. The community benefits in controlling the virus for anyone in the UK outweighs the potential cost to UK plc in testing / vaccines.

Please encourage anyone of any immigration status to test if there are symptoms or use the no symptom testing where available. Where possible, if there is access to vaccinations to utilise the opportunity.

True.Singapore had prioritised their own citizens for testing but not their temporary workers, who then became the vector for further transmissions of the virus within the wider community, defeating the purpose of testing.
