Requesting changes to forum titles?

Post by sah10406 » Wed Oct 14, 2020 8:42 am

Some of the forum titles probably need updating due to Home Office changes or imminent changes, eg. Tier 4 Student Visas are now just Student visas, and Tier 2 is about to become Skilled Worker from January. The long-closed Tier 1 Post Study Work forum should also probably be opened some time soon in anticipation of the new Graduate route coming next summer.

Also the general split between Tier / non-Tier should probably change to PBS / non-PBS, since the "Tier" concept is already being phased out and will be gone by January.

I DM'd the Admins about it last week but no reply. Do I just wait for a reply?

1. 'Admin" based in Latvia doesn't deal with this or the day to day running of the forums etc. The moderators do this.

2. We are already in discussions about the forum name changes based on the ukvi changes.

Okay thanks. Most changes are not until January anyway, but Tier 4 already changed name on 5 October, so that specific update is urgent.

Will have a look at this for Student Visas over the weekend.

"Student Visas" would definitely be the best title for what is currently the Tier 4 forum. It is both the name of the new route, and it doubles as a generic description so it can include questions about existing Tier 4 visas and about the short-term student route which has never previously had a logical place to be discussed.

uk-tier-4-student-visas/

I can't work out how to change the url as it is linked directly to the WorkPermit.com website but working on it.

Just to check, is the new student visas point based or non points based??

Good question. It is technically part of the points based system, but as with Tier 4 points cannot be traded.

Is the Tier 2 forum being changed to Skilled Worker route? The name changed from Tuesday 1 December.

The new Graduate Route (which people are informally calling PSW or post-study work) is coming at some point in the next few months, and people are already using the Student visas forum to ask about it.

Can we have a new Graduate route forum, and maybe move the recent questions about it on the Student Visas forum?

Any news on a dedicated forum for the Graduate Route? The rules were published yesterday, and applications will open on 1 July.

At the moment all the queries are being posted to the Student Route forum, but it's not ideal.

I assume from no replies that there is no interest in creating a separate forum for the Graduate route, and it will stay combined with the Student visas forum.

I still think it's a good idea. IMHO having two separate types of application covered by a single forum will get messy and confusing.

Disappointing that there has been no interest to start a board for the Graduate route, which starts in two days' time.
