Can I register a charity while on a tier 2 visa?

Hi all,

I am currently sponsored on a Tier 2 visa.

I am wondering - is it possible to register a charity while on this visa? I know that it is legal for those on the T2 visa to undertake voluntary work - but would that extend to serving as a director / founder of a charity?

Obviously I would not be getting paid for my work with the charity, but I am wanting to officially register it so the volunteers benefit from DBS checks.

I had a look online but there was nothing official that said this is possible.
