Minister McEntee outlines draft scheme to regularize undocumented migrants to Cabinet

Post by finalversion_2k » Fri Apr 23, 2021 2:04 pm

The final terms of the scheme are subject to the consultation process. The Minister’s initial proposals envisage that eligible people would:

1. Have a period of 4 years residence in the State without an immigration permission, or 3 years in the case of those with children;
2. Be granted an immigration permission that allows for unrestricted access to the labor market; and
3. Have years of residence with that permission reckonable for the purposes of pursuing citizenship by way of naturalization

Have a really silly question.. people who's current and previous stamps were revoked will fell under Point 1 criteria OR not?? LOL

@finalversion I have same question, if someone's previous stamps were revoked, would they be considered?

It's still a draft proposal so nobody at this stage knows who's eligible and who's not.

I would have thought that having no stamp is a tiny bit different than having a stamp and then getting revoked. Revoking one's stamp would usually puts that person's 'good character' into turmoil.

It will depend on circumstances surrounding the revocation. Revocation fir fraudulent conduct is clearly different from revocation for failing to meet the requirements of a provision under which leave was previously issued.

Once has to be careful how these things are viewed. Context is very important.
