Dates of bills and items of correspondence - Spouse Visa Extension

Post by Negan92 » Mon May 10, 2021 8:37 pm

Hi all,

Background info – I am currently on spouse visa --- dates on my BRP is 12 Sept 2018 valid until 26 June 2021. I landed in UK on 12 Oct 2018. We were looking for a place to stay for about 2 months and moved in together on 17 Dec 2018.

Extension - We are planning to submit the online application on 17 May 2021 and hoping to do the super priority with a biometric appointment by end of May 2021.

We had a couple of questions and would appreciate it if you could help shed some light on the following:

1) Should the dates of the bills be no earlier than 28 days before the online application?
- Does this refer to the date of the bill or the period covered by the bill?

2) Below are all the items of correspondence we have under our joint names:

i) Council tax bill since the day we moved in i.e. 17/12/2018 (2018 – 2019; 2019 – 2020; 2020 – 2021)
ii) Energy bill for the period between 17/12/2018 to 31/01/2021
iii) Thames Water bill for the period between 17/12/2018 to 05/05/2021 (but this bill shows my husband’s name with our address underneath his name on the left side of the letter and my name is shown as additional account holder on the right side with no address under my name)
iv) Tenancy agreement since 17th Dec 2018 and all the subsequent renewals (latest one was last month)
v) Joint bank statements starting from July 2019 up to 07/05/2021

- Which ones should we be including in our application? I have tried reading the guidelines and I don't know what it means when it says to include two items from 3 different sources to make 6 items of correspondence – how do I decide which bills cover which period?

Appreciate all the help, thank you so much!

You do not have to worry about the 28 days requirement here.

2) Below are all the items of correspondence we have under our joint names:

Use this formula, and focus more on the date of the document rather than the period you believe the document to cover.

Hi Korekt,

Thank you so much for clarifying this for me!!

I have had a look at the links you sent and have chosen the following as evidence:

1) Council tax bill dated 14/05/2019 covering the period of 17/12/2018 to 31/03/2019
2) Thames Water bill dated 18/10/2019 covering the period of 28/05/2019 to 16/10/2019.
3) Council tax bill dated 06/03/2020 covering the period of 01/04/2020 to 31/03/2021.
4) Data Energy bill dated 16/09/2020 covering the period of 30/04/2020 to 31/07/2020.
5) Data Energy bill dated 02/03/2021 covering the period of 01/11/2020 to 31/01/2021
6) Thames Water account statement dated 05/05/2021 covering the period of 17/10/2019 to 05/05/2021 (this is an account statement, not a bill exactly)

I tried to make them every 4/5 months, but some of them are after 6 months (i.e. item 3 to item 5). Is this okay, does this look like a good list??

Thank you once again, your help is very much appreciated!

If they are jointly-named documents, it's fine.

Hi Korekt,

Thank you so much for clarifying!!

Also - my passport expires in Aug 2021. I have just submitted my online application and BRP appointment is 05 June 2021, we have paid for super priority as well. Would my passport expiry date have any impact on my application? It is technically still valid, but I cant help but worry..
