Sorry to hear that.

Is this for the EU3 application you applied in January 2021?

The letter is self explanatory. Have you submitted all required documents? This should include 5 years of bank statements, utility bills and proofs of how you have been exercising your treaty rights (e.g. P60/EDS, employer letter, college letter etc).

Cheers @littlerr

OP on another thread posted that he applied for EU3 so wasn't sure if he meant EU3 in this thread as EU2 application is slightly different ;)

The letter is addressed to a British national, so it can only be EU2 (although very very few people would actually apply for it as British nationals have indefinite leave to remain in Ireland anyway).

I never followed up so cannot confirm but I read that the EU was planning to allow UK citizens resident in the EU for over five years continued free movement rights as long as they were resident before the end of the transition period. I guess a PR document would be a pre-requisite for this.

No. The certificate is just a certificate for your own. There is no prerequisite for such certificates.

That certificate help differenciate between you as a British citizen covered by the agreement and those British citizen that do not.

Should you want to bring in future children, grandchildren or parents or grandparents dependent on you before withdrawal, it helps, in comparison to having to keep historical documents of your residence.

But it is not compulsory. You may wish to book an appointment with the Garda to get the 5 years WABC if you do not qualify for the 10 years PR WABC.

It could be useful. I have one, as I think it would be handy.

I got my cert about 2 years ago, to my surprise it only took 2 weeks, I was expecting an acknowledgment letter and came the cert itself but I provided them with ton loads of documents with the application form .

I wonder if there is any difference in having 5yrs WABC vs 10yrs PR WABC?

I think 5yrs WABC is easy n straight forward coz you need just need to provide basic documentation to the Garda Station as opposed to sending shit loads of documents to EU Treaty n wait for months for a decision.

I think WABC should come in both 5 and 10 years format. The 5 years can be done at the Local Garda Station.

Applicants should present their original passport for identification purposes
and also a document such as a utility bill, tenancy agreement and/or
landlord’s letter showing they are currently resident in the State, exercising
their EU treaty rights prior to the end of the transition period and continuing
to do so.

You seem to have answered your own question. Just call the immigration office and make sure before you go.
