University degree for Skilled Worker visa

Post by derek92 » Thu Jun 03, 2021 7:32 pm

Hello everyone,

I'm working for one of the UK-based company as a software developer. They want me to sponsor with a Skilled Worker visa. The thing is that I didn't complete university yet. I'm studying computer engineering. I was wondering that can I get a Skilled Worker visa without a university degree?

Also, this is the code I probably work with.
Occupation code: 2136 - Programmers and software development professionals

It us up to the sponsor to decide whether you are suitable for the role. If the sponsor doesn't require you to have a university degree that's fine. The immigration rules don't have any requirement in this regard.

Note that SOC code 2136 is also a shortage occupation.

I'm already working with them remotely last 5 months. They want to sponsor me without asking for more document. So, having a degree is not a requirement of the skilled worker visa or Certificate of Sponsorship, right?

Also, 2136 is on the shortage occupation list as you mentioned. I knew that I'm getting 20 more scores for that reason. I read somewhere that that code required RFQ6 which means minimum bachelor degree. That's why I'm confused.

Thank you for helping.

The RQF level 6 requirement for some jobs is no longer in the rules and even when it was it did not mean that you had to be educated to this level, only that the job had to be at that level which was up to the sponsor to determine.

Hopefully this is within the conditions of your current visa

Thank you so much for answering.

Yes, I'm not living in the UK. I'm giving them service with my company. So, it's b2b, a legal relationship.
