Child born in India to ILR parents - do they have priority service?

Post by vijay80 » Wed Apr 07, 2021 11:34 pm

Hello Gurus,
We (ILR parents) are in the process of applying vaf4a appendix 1 for our infant daughter born in India.
When I filled the online application form for settlement visa (vaf4a form equivalent),
I am asked to pay £ 1523 equivalent Indian rupees and they say it will take 12 weeks for the approval process. I do not see the way of applying through ‘Priority Service’ to speed up the process,

1 Please let me know how can I avail priority service in India for vaf4a (child born abroad settlement visa) approval.

2 And please validate my understanding about the application

1. I need to fill the application form online and pay the fees
2. Fill the Appendix 1 paper form and sponsorship form.
3. Upload the relevant documents online at Vfs global site
( should I also upload the filled Appendix 1 form or I need to hand over it at a vfs centre?)
3. Submit the documents and original passport of my daughter at a vfs centre

Please advice.

Thanks in advance.

I think it all depends on the VFS office you went to. I did my daughters visa in Canada. And the VFS office we used did NOT have priority as an available option. Sadly.

Have figured out the priority service confusion.
While submitting and paying for the application at the gov.uk site, we will be paying only £ 1523 equivalent Indian rupee amount. And while booking the biometrics appointment with the commercial partner, we will get the provision to select for the ‘priority services’ available at the centre and have the provision to speed up the approval process.

Good luck. My office didn't offer priority services at all.

Hi Vijay, I've some questions, If you could clarify it will be of great help.

We are also in the same situation. we both parents are on ILR and child is born outside, so, I need to apply for ILE for sure. While filling the form I've found some confusing part as explained below:

The section where it says "Additional information need to provide". Here, we are asked to confirm the correct forms to be downloaded like vaf4a forms. There are some options but the confusing ones are below, I've attached the snapshot

I had permission to come to UK before 2012, so, I would choose the option 1 that is "granted to be here before 2012". I understand that the vaf4a Appendix 1 is the correct form to download. Though both of us got ILR in Oct 2012

The confusion I've is, as I understand, we don't need to provide financial support if we are applying for ILE to child. So, does it mean that people who are granted permission after 9 July 2012 needs to download vaf4fa Appendix 2 form? But options in the Appendix 2 is for parents who are given "limited leave". Not for parent who have ILR.

Can anyone here clarify this please? Did you get permission to come to UK before 2012?

@vijay80
Are they still giving only 30 days visa ? Can we request for 180 days visa due to covid?

I've not completed the form, Initially it showed me below documents to be submitted/scanned and uploaded. I think it is clear, just can you confirm the documents you attached (of course scanned copy)
- Child passport
- Child birth certificate
- Parents passport + BRP card
- Marriage certificate

Employment status:
- Bank statements 6 months (can also act as address proof)
- employee letter (should include, current status, date of joining, living address, Salary)
- payslips + p60

Address proof:
- tenancy agreement (if rented)
- council tax
- council/electoral letter
- GP letter (may be include)

Hi All

Thank you for providing the information over here. I found it very helpful.
We are in the same situation where we both Parents holding ILR and expecting our baby in September.

I do have some questions as below.

Which online form do I need to submit?
Do I need to start the application from the UK or can I do it from India?
If applying online, Do I need to carry any documents with me to India?

Thank you in advance.

If your application was successful under paragraph 297, child will be granted Indefinite leave to enter.

TODMATT, Thanks for the reply, Yes I understand, they grant ILE paper and stamp 30 day visa on the passport. Once you enter UK then you have to collect ILE BRP from local post office within 10 days of arrival. Was trying to find out because of covid whether they are giving visa for more duration.
If you don't come within those 30 days you need to renew visa, don't have to submit the documents again but you just renew with the valid reason..
I want to plan and apply so that I can avoid hotel qurantine.

Initial visa vignettes are valid for 90 days now.

As mentioned above by CR001. The vignette are still been granted 90 days at moment and there’s no changes to that at the moment so there’s no need to rush things.
