U can submit ur application in any VFS centre at the moment but you need to fill up the form address to that area , so if u going to Birmingham u need to choose Birmingham when u filling up ur online form on the HCI website not London.
I had been to Edinburgh last week but when I went to desk I been told I need to make another user name id on HCI website and fill up the form again choosing Edinburgh.
It was a queue at the VFS centre as there was only 1 computer to fill up the form .

Thanks for you reply. I have already submitted the online applicaton form. May be i will fill another one and take both and just give them whichever they ask.

Did you went to edinburgh just for submitting the form and surrender passport? Did they ask for application form for edinburg office or any applicaton is fine. because i thought application form is common for all regardless of where you submit.
I live in London, and I am going to birhimgham to submit it on 29 june. Hope there wont be any issue.
Thanks

I m from Gloucester near Bristol
I am still waiting for my British passport as I was using Singh as my Surname on HO applications but on my Indian passport Singh is been written at Given name and Surname left blank , so HMP officer asked me to surrender my Indian passport first then they will issue me British passport 🙃
Complicated

Submitted VFS-Belfast:27.05.2021
Application received at embassy/consulate :07.06.2021
Tracking status:surrender certificate is under review at Indian embassy/consulate

This status has been the same for the past two weeks.
Emailed HCI only to be told I needed to "wait" as those whose passports are expiring in June are given priority.

What is the point of submitting an application early, travelling all the way to Belfast as there were no appointments in London in the hope of getting the certificate early, only to be told I need to "wait".
If priority is given to the passports which expire early,we should be at least given a timeline about the receipt of our certificate or allowed to travel with our Indian passport as the it expires late.

There is a day and night difference in process of applying for the British passport and experiencing this process to travel back to India.

I'm sure there are others who have experienced the same , and there is nothing that anyone can do about it except endure it.

This is really helpful or i would have been struggling after reaching the centre. I have changed the application now for birmingham. Going on 29th.
Hope it goes smoothly.
Thanks again.
please update us when you receive the certificate.
Thanks

Super impressed with the processing speed.

Applied in-person last week (20th May) and received the letter today.

Hope OCI is fast as well.
Which VFS office have you submitted your application ?
I am waiting for my surrender certificate but I have submitted on 9th June , looking at previous posts look like it will be a long wait

Same response "wait".
When i clearly want to know when i will receive my certificate.
They cant seem to give me a timeline and nothing is written in their website either.
If they cant do their work, why do they have to keep these processes in place.
Let us continue with our lives without involving them.

Wow hopefully its not a lot of issues.
Did you finally receive your certificate?
I am thinking of applying from VFS Edinburgh too. And I am based in London. I am wondering if there is any significant difference in the processing timings.

Thanks.
