Timeline for switching from WP to Tier 1 General within UK

Post by pino700 » Sun Oct 05, 2008 12:57 pm

On 30th September 2008, I submitted my application for switching from wok permit holder to Tier 1(General) within UK. Sent docs via special delivery. Received confirmation letter dated 2 September through post on 4 September 2008.

Am interested in knowing the quickest time it will take for the processig of the application because I want to use the new visa for a change of job at the end of October 2008. I note from discussions above that Home Office are now processing applications submitted on 29 August 2008.

Are all applications for Tier1 being handled in the UK even for people applying from outside of UK ?

Hi

You meant to say that you got the cofnirmation letter in October right?

I applied on 1st October. Not sure how long does it take for the confirmation letter to arrive.

Does the HO send an email along with confirmation letter?

I posted my documents on 30 September, 2008 via special delivery and I was told by Post Office they will be delivered at HO offices at Durham on 1 October,2008. I received acknowledgement letter dated 2 October 2008 incorporating a reference number on 4 October 2008.

The letter stated that payment has been processed and cleared (opted for debit card payment) and advised that the application has been passed to a caseworking team for valiation and consideration.

I am interestd in knowing how other applicants are tracking their application on the internet and how one could apply for urgent treatment(YTR)

Cool man. Your case is moving pretty fast then! I am still waiting for the letter. I keep checking my bank account every 10 minutes but there is no deduction yet.

Never thought I would be so happy to see £750 going away from my account!

Am still waiting for comments and advice from the forum regarding the threads I posted earlier. Further to my receipt of acknowledgement letter from HO on 4 October 2008 I am still waiting for HO to indicate whether my application has been assigned to a case worker. As someone who has recently been made redundant in the UK I need tier1 visa to enable me to secure an alternative job asap. Am not sure whether I will be luck to get the visa before the end of October 2008. The tricky part is that my current visa on my passport (i.e tied to my previous employer secured work permit) expires in early 2012 and if I am issued with a tier 1 (valid for 3 years) visa it will endorsed with a expiry date of October or November 2008. At which time during this month should I applied for a UTR?

Any urgent advice and suggestions on the above are greatly appreciated.

I rang HO in the UK today at about 10:45 hrs UK time and I was informed by CC that the caseworking team is now handling applications which were received on 29 September 2008. CC indicated that the dates are updated on a weekly basis. CC said they could not tell whether my application has been assigned to a case worker.

Timeline for my application:

Application posted by special delivery on 30 September 2008
Received by HO on 1 October 2008
Acknowledgement letter dated 2 October 2008
Monies deducted on 3 October 2008
Acknowledgement letter received on 4 October 2008 c/w reference number
Application not yet assigned to caseworker.
