[URGENT] Travelling to EU from the UK without passport

just wondering if your passport is stuck at an Embassy processing your visa and you want to travel to another EU country very very urgently, what can you do pls?

surely there must be a provision for this?

I don't think there is any solution from inside the UK.
If you are outside the UK you may be issued with a British temporary travel document if you satisfy the conditions, such as being a British citizen.

I know what to do when abraid..but stange there is no solution when you are inside your home country right ?

I'm sure you can apply for another passport from HMPO (I know regular business travellers who do have two, mainly due to visa issues) - however, that can take anywhere from 10 days to 4 weeks (or even 10 weeks per HMPO website). Unlikely that will help with the urgency.

oh..you can hv two passports ? did not know that...any link to how to get them - may be useful for next time even if it does not help this time...
