Switching from Tier 2 General to Skilled worker Visa

Post by kumaresh2902 » Mon Aug 02, 2021 12:38 pm

Hello everyone,

I am currently working in the UK under Tier 2 visa, I have got this Tier 2 visa last year September and I have the visa until 2023 August. I was applying for the new opportunities and I have got placed in some better company. The new company is willing to sponsor me a new skilled worker visa. They are currently processing my COS letter, but before that, I would like to clarify the following questions,

That would be great if you could help me with the following questions,

1. Do I need to let my current employer know before I switch my visa with the new employer?

2. I have a valid visa until 2023, if I change my visa now do we need to pay the full NHS fee amount?

3. Does my wife (currently on a dependent visa and she also has a dependent visa until 2023), also need to apply for a visa with me now? or is she can stay in the UK with her existing visa?

4. My SOC code is: 2139 and the Job title is: Cyber Security Analyst, could you tell me if this job is under the shortage of occupation list?

Thank you very much for your help!

No.

Yes.

Not sure, possibly.

Are you not able to look on the list yourself??

Hello,

Thank you for your reply,

Regarding the 4th question, I did look into the Shortage of occupation list but it says "2139 Information technology and communications professionals not elsewhere classified – only cybersecurity specialists"

My new employer can not able to find any other SOC code which belongs to the Cyber Security profession, so they have assigned this SOC code. I am a bit concerned my job title is Cyber Security Analyst and not Cyber Security Specialist.

I believe, someone in this forum might have come across the same issue as me. Therefore, it would be better to get their advice.

Could someone please clarify this?

Thanks a lot!
