They would normally give UT if you already have a job offer.

you should put in the line in your letter 'it would be greatly appreciated if you consider my request for urgent treatment, however, please do not withdraw my application if urgent treatment is not granted'.

As far as I know the way HO treats UT is like that they will pass the application onto their manager who will then be dedecated to work on the case, which is supposed to quicker and give more appropriate decision.

I would not think that UT is just to purely give your papers back without processing. If it was true, it would be called Urgent Withdraw or just simply Cancellation!

I did mention "'it would be greatly appreciated if you consider my request for urgent treatment"
but didn't ask not to withdraw my application if urgent treatment is not granted ..... i think i'll fax it again wth that line .... if it helps... thnx JESSIES.

Dear here4tier1,
Don't worry. If you have sent an UT and the HO cannot process your application within the stipulated time they will get back to you and ask you whether you want to withdraw your application. They wont do it automatically. Best of luck

hey Sinead,

i think you need to call a lawyer to get some advice. You mentioned that you are a locum, but as a consultant or Specialist registrar? Consultants can get visas but SpRs cannot as they are still doctors in training. It states on the visa that doctors in training cannot apply/work in the UK.

you could also ask one of the deaneries, I am going to work at one of the deaneries on Thursday so I'll ask one of the consultants for you as well

If you are currently a Foundation Doctor then I am almost certain you can't get a visa because there are too many doctors in the UK and not enough jobs. But once again, you should double check with a lawyer, i think

Heya Madihi11, thanks for that. My last day is the 1st of Dec but I am giving myself until February to find a good job in Media or Public Relations. I'm sending out CVs today but if I don't find anything suitable I'll take all of December and half of Jan off to go travelling as well. I'm planning for Denmark, Luxembourg, Switzerland and North Africa.

Am I'm going to France with everyone for xmas (very excited) as I thought I would be left if my visa did not get approved. Where are you going? Enjoy your travels!

Here4tier1,

Based on the correct fax number you gave me I re-faxed my UTR on 21/08. When I rang HO this morning I was told my application has been passed on to a caseworker today (i.e 22/10/08). I hope that if everything is in order they will approve the application this week.

heya helloimran

Don't take what they say too seriously. I noticed that alot of the cases on the 16 Sept (which was my appl date as well) was assigned to a CW on approx the 10th Oct.

If you are really worried, just call them again and say that someone you spoke to beforehand told you your case was assigned but you forgot to get the date. See what they say, I used that technique often and got more information accidentally.

great helloimran!

Then you call again later (in a week or 2) and tell them you have sent in additonal documents, and can they confirm if it has arrived. It doesn't matter if you send the documents in or not (I did) but it makes them go through their computer system more comprehensively. When i call the guy let slip that my case had been approved after spending a minute looking for my additional docs on the system. I was told after by another CC that the first CC should have never told me that the case was completed at that stage :)
