It will come next day . No status bar changes. But chances they take revenge on by asking for additional documents to delay. Happened to me. Still waiting

Lord have mercy, have you all read the online reviews for the Passport service:

https://www.google.com/search?q=passpor ... 39a23,1,,,

I've never seen so much anger and frustration. I can not be more nervous handing them over my original passport and birth certificate. It seems if they lose them or otherwise mess up your application, absolutely nothing can be done to correct the situation. Sounds like a nightmare from top to bottom...

Yes. Don't know when it will be make it to news unless some protest happen. It's definitely not the backlog issue. It's the staffs operating there with absolute paper work 1980s mentality is the problem

I have been asked to provide my birth cert again fore the 3.rd time again. Im a Turkish citizen and out birth certs are simply our ID cards and what we provide for citizenship application is the birth cert we get from the embassy. I got my citizenship with the birth cert I got from the embassy but obviously its not good enough for the passport office. The office thinks, certs I provided are photocopies. On the other hand another friend of mine with the same paper was good enough for the department to issue his passport :)

Today i gave up on them and I will be going to the solicitor tomorrow. First I need to make sure they can arrange me an appointment. I waited for 84 business days for them to do the right thing but I have reached my limits.

Unfortunately, from June 29.th until today we made no progress....

Hi all,

My 1st time Irish passport was due on 9th Nov 2021 but got an email today that they are looking for my National passport( which was already sent out to them back in Sep 21 in a separate registered post with NICOP and FRC).

I spoke to them couple of times on phone but could not get proper answer and they said they will investigate it.

Could you please advise if any of you come across like this situation before?

Thanks a mil.

I had a good 20 minute talk with one of the customer service team member and explained the situation again. I was told they are going to get back to me but so far there was no news. I decided to check the tracker and I see a note saying "your passport book is being printed ....."

But the tracker says your estimated issue date is 17/01/2022. Its a bir confusing but I will call them tomorrow to make sure passport is printed and the other date is just a date.....

I contacted customer chat today and asked about the status of my documents dispatched or not ? They said it's not dispatched yet be patience. It was good 20 min chat and hence I was frustrated and nothing was good at all .. suddenly after 2pm when I thought to check mailbox I was surprised to see my documents back and was scanned and yet they were saying its not dispatched yet.
The bar is showing your application has been processed. Maybe check and verified , next stage might be printing .. God knows

That is not normal. Never heard such a long timeline. I would keep calling or chatting with them

Thought I'd add my info;

Online Application : 01/09/2021
Documents received : 24/09/2021
Estimated Date : 01/12/2021

Status changed from processing application to review of documents on 08/11/2021

Mine's pretty straightforward, mother was born in Ireland and I sent in all original documents (birth cert, marriage cert, etc...)

ya this is most frustrating part, every time we call and chat which is almost every day they say 6 more weeks.
No other information is provided which gives insight into actually what is happening.

my application is not that straightforward as parents are not Irish citizens yet but have stayed long enough here to qualify kid for the passport.

Re anyone who has posted about birth certificates. If you did not send one in with your original citizenship application, you must have done an affidavit so just use the same affidavit form for the passport application. Print the same form, fill it out as your had before, and get it witnessed by a lawyer
Congrats!! just wondering if anyone sent in original laminated birth-certs and had issue or no issues. I sent the only certs i have ever used 5 weeks ago (which were laminated from birth) and i fear they will reject it and restart the application clock all over again. Maybe i should be thinking of preempting this before it gets rejected? Also i believe i only sent one document to cover both proof of name and proof of address. All these are a no no on the website

Hi Sugeie,

Did you have any issues submitting a laminated copy of your Birth Certificate?

I just applied and my original Birth Certificate was in a bad state so it was laminated to preserve it. In my home country, a new original cannot be obtained so I obtained an official photocopy of my Birth Certificate with an official issuing stamp from my home country then got a certified English translation done here in Ireland.

Anyone else in a similar situation?

You need to get the formul-a international birth certificate document from the Turkish embassy in Ballsbridge, if you email them they will confirm that they issue this rather than the written copy of your ID card which is not accepted by the passport office. Just get "formül-a doğum belgesi" no need for a solicitor. All Turkish people are having the same problem and they end up re-submitting with formul-a document, I don't understand why Turkish embassy or Irish passport office just not warn people beforehand that only formul-a document is required.
