Cool off Period for short stay visas

Post by spp_pro » Thu Nov 11, 2021 3:02 pm

Does Ireland have a cooling off period for short stay single entry visas? Say i visit Ireland from Jan-March, can I apply for a short stay visa again (in my home country) in April and visit from May-July. As far as I know Schengen countries have a cool off period 90 days in 180 days. Does Ireland also follow this?

Same in Ireland, if you have already spend a maximum of 90 days on a short-stay visa, you are running a risk of being flagged and refused the entry. Short stay visas cannot be used for prolonged residence in the State.

I meant after 90 days go back to home country and apply for visa again immediately and then come if granted. Usually for Schengen, I have heard that you cannot apply for short stay visa for next 90 days. There is a cool off period.

There is no 'cooling off' period in Ireland.

However, that doesn't mean your visa will be approved. You can apply for the visa, but it will likely be refused unless you have genuine reasons (especially for business purposes). Ireland is small enough that a temporary visitor should not have to spend more than 90 days in this tiny island.

If you have a different reason, e.g. caring for family members etc, you should apply for a long-stay visa.
