Confirmation of British nationality status - DOCUMENTS

Post by iwona22 » Thu Dec 09, 2021 3:00 am

Hi,

I am a naturalized British citizen and now I have applied for my 2-year son's confirmation of British nationality status, I live in Australia. I've been asked to send my son's passports to the Liverpool office within 10 working days.

I'm concerned about posting such an important document via post, is there any alternative here? I sent an enquiry to the provided email but no response for 3 days and the time is passing. The call centre is absolutely unhelpful and unable to advise in any way.

How long will the passport be withheld? We are going overseas in April and need the passport to travel.

Could I please get your advice?

Thank you
Iwona

I think applying for confirmation of British status is a waste of money.

Best to apply for either a British passport or perhaps a CoE-RoA.

Moreover, heed JAJ’s warning

A word of warning - be careful about sending away original (non-replaceable) documents as they may well get lost either in transit or at the embassy or Home Office. You may want to send certified copies initially. They will probably want to see originals but perhaps you could then arrange an appointment at a consulate for a consular officer to view them and copy them. Explain everything on a covering letter with the application.

Otherwise - find yourself a good UK immigration solicitor to deal with the application.
