Hey!
First of all, take a look at the timeline thread. According to it, it takes about 2 months to get your passports back, if everything is fine. But you should also take into account they did not work during Christmas/New Years and they send back passports in batches, so I assume soon enough (in a month, I would hope) you will get at least a confirmation of address call/email.

Hi I also applied in November and still waiting for my acknowledgement letter. I don't have passport or travel document because I am a refugee and not expecting any email/call for that . I am just waiting for my acknowledgement letter.

With rough estimates, they are sending out acknowledgement letters to people applied in August-September. Your passport is usually returned without acknowledgement letter at this point. So you have to wait 4 months after you applied to receive the acknowledgement letter. If you need your passport back, you need to have an emergency case or just get a doctor's note stating that you need to travel for health reasons. Otherwise they won't prioritize your passport to be sent back.

When you say "all my important documents", are you hoping they will return more than just your passport? It's my understanding that their policy is to retain all other documents and file them away for future reference.

I also think ISD only returns passport and acknowledgment letter, for originals like birth certificate , marriage certificate you submit the copy attested by notary etc…

Yeah, that's what they clearly say. All the stuff you submit (besides passport) should be a copy as they are not aiming to give it back.

Applied in Nov 2021, only got passport back, no acknowledgment letter and no reference number. According to timelines thread it takes about 4 months since the application was sent to get the acknowledgment. I hope it helps.

Personally, I get the fact that there are facts in the timeline regarding the return of passports and the sending of acknowledgement letters and receipts. I also sent in my application early November, and I only have my passport back without the letter or a receipt. However, I think that questioning the tardiness of the whole situation, as you are doing already, is the most correct thing to do concerning the overall outlook of the application process. Better to be on your toes, weighing up information, and not becoming complacent to excuse every wait from INIS without having facts.

To be honest with you ,i have no idea why 10 or 15 people here on this forum in a same situation are not getting together and going to court againest Department instead of going after 23 months indviduly .ok fair enough their might be backlog of application, but getting acknowledgment after 4 to 5 months, is totally unacceptable.i mean 120/150 days to acknowledge yes we have your application.which could be done in few hours . The Department is saying that 5 years for spouse of eu national and 3 years for spouse of irish national. But they are not adding up the time through process .when your most painfull time is going through process.they are not treating people
With reasonable timeframe 1 person is getting response from them within time while the other 1 is waiting for years and years it looks like our time does not even matter to them its really a mess of this syestem. 😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
