Mine were registered in 5 working days in November, but according to the media (I would post a link....) there has been a surge of applications in January.

They have been hiring additional staff due to come "on-site" from January (no idea on training time). And a new processing system contract was signed on Monday. I've no idea how quickly this will have an effect. At the moment it seems like 3 months. Crystal ball needed :)

They are currently two weeks behind - Mine is dispatched with OUT a contact to the person who signed/notarized my identity verification, I suspect its because my grandma gets a check from ireland.

There's major problems with passport online at the moment - it's not you, that is a common complaint at the moment. The forms are not being provided. The only thing you can do is contact them via web chat........if you can.

Minister for Foreign Affairs Simon Coveney has told the Dáil that the Passport Office is currently experiencing "a very high level of demand", with up to 1.7 million passport applications expected in 2022.

Coveney said that there are currently 777 staff members in the Passport Office to deal with the demand, an increase of 70% compared to June 2021.

the current passport backlog stands at 113,000 applications due to Covid-19 lockdowns, while the Passport Office is reportedly looking to take on further "significant numbers" to help cope with the demand.

Fine Gael Senator Garret Ahearn has called for the Passport Office to open seven days a week until the backlog has been cleared.

I thought I'd drop another data point in so that those waiting don't feel alone;

Application received: 25/10/21
Documents acknowledged and status moved to verifying: 4/11/21
Estimated Issue date: 10/1/22
Status changed to 'processing': 13/1/22

So that's currently three weeks past estimated Issue date, hopefully not long now....

Got two kids passports stuck in system. Think one moved to processing on Thursday 27th and the other one is still stuck on verification. Both past the estimated issue dates of 25 and 26 January. Had thought that processing to printing was the quick bit or if issue would get feed back quickly.

I must say I'm surprised that this was completed before the estimated issue date, after reading through others' experiences in this thread. That's it for me and I hope you get your passports soon! :D

Hi makaako, hi corky100.
First of all, congrats, guys!
Wondering, did you ping them in the webchat? If “yes” can you please share how/any suggestions?
Mine application was a few days before your, and didn’t move over “verifying” yet, so looking for any options.

I'm not counting my chickens yet - I could be knocked back! I personally haven't contacted them, and from I've read on twitter, I wouldn't advise it. But as mentioned by others previously, people who ask "any problems?" as opposed to "where's my passport" seem to have a positive result.

makaako documents arrived before mine, but mine got registered before his. His target date was later than mine but got processed earlier. I don't think you can read too much into it.

My son was applying for his first Irish passport and after three months of waiting, they sent us an email requesting ITIA legal translation for his birth certificate. We have submitted the same certified translation as we used for his naturalisation. It was good for getting citizenship but not good enough for a passport. That is so strange.

I need some advice here. I found only three persons in Ireland with ITIA membership and all of them live very far from Dublin (e.g Tipperary). Is that a so strict requirement to have ITIA certified translation of birth certificate? What did you submit?

I have no idea what to do... :(

You can send them as registered post and they can send it back to you in same way so you won’t have to travel and it takes 1 day for post to get delivered so they can do it less than in a week, so if that’s the only option (I have no clue sorry) just use the post and it will be grand

Absolutely. I sent my documents in and got put in the system on 23/9 with an estimated issue date of 14/12. It's a straightforward application, as my parents were born in Ireland. After my dye date had passed by a week, I contacted them through webchat and they confirmed everything was in order. I waited another week, and they said it would be printing soon. Later that day I got an email saying my application was incomplete and that I would have to send proof of address ( I had sent them my most recent payslip and utility bill, both of which were acceptable forms of ID and had my name and address on them). They paused my application just before Christmas. I contacted the webchat again, and they confirmed that they had received my ID and couldn't understand why I was being asked for it again, but that I'd better send it in again as that was what the verification team was requesting. Anyway, back to the end if the queue and my new issue date is 08/03

Your story looks almost like mine (above) where they requested the new birth cert translation. The certificated translation I sent to them was used for 9 years in all Irish government departments without any issues. It looks like they use such "requests" as a nasty way no put us to the end of the queue because they can't keep up with due dates. That will cost me at least 70 eur extra.

Yep, got knocked back for proof of name. I made sure one of my ID documents had my full name on it, and was from a central government dept.

Do the e-mails start with this for yours etc? Not sure if I need to send more than proof of name in.

Can you explain the Stamp 6 business? Is it something that happens at the airport upon arrival, or is this something that requires a trip to a Dublin government office after arrival?

I was hoping to use my Irish passport upon arrival in Dublin for the shorter queue.
