Smp1 maternity pay is public funds

Hi all
My employer send me messages regarding my maternity pay I'm right now on spouse visa of my British husband.
I had visa extension already my indefinite due 2023 January.

I work my company only 2 month they told me that they are not giving me maternity pay.
Buy they can apply my smp1 kindly read their message below.

COMPANY MESSAGE

Then as we’ve now fixed the SSP and holiday payments, I would like to propose that you start your Materntiy on April 1st 2022. If you accept this date, then I have forward your reply to HR, who will put that date onto the SMP1 form and you can take that SMP1 form to the Universal Credit/DWP for them to instigate the government maternity pay process. This is because you have worked with XXX COMPANYless than one year and do not qualify for maternity pay through the company


KINDLY UPDATE THAT THIS MATERNITY SMP1 IS PUBLIC FUNDS . OR NOT.

SHOULD I TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT .
