OCI - Place of Birth confusion

Post by pm107 » Tue Mar 29, 2022 9:30 pm

In my UK as well as cancelled Indian passport the place of birth is mentioned as "Chennai, Tamil Nadu". I put in the same information in the OCI form. However, the OCI form also asks for the State and country of birth separately so in the final application form (which has the photo) the place of birth appears as:

7. Place of birth CHENNAI TAMIL NADU , TAMIL NADU , INDIA
(Note Tamil Nadu repeated twice).

However, I read that the place of birth should exactly match what is in the passport so should I mention CHENNAI TAMIL NADU despite the repetition? ie: is the repetition, ok because in the OCI card only the place of birth which is "CHENNAI TAMIL NADU" will appear and that needs to match my UK passport?

That's fine! Just put it as on your passport!
