Is it the first time or second time you applied for FOI?

I hope you’ll get your approval/certificate soon or the certificate in June ceremony!!

I received my FOI today, it shows all checks completed.

So what is the hold up? I dont get it.

This is the 4th time I applied for FOI. In October 2021 was my 3rd time and I see no movement so I wrote and threatened JR and in Nov I received a request to do evetting. After this it was quiet and I wrote again and they requested for police reports. Now quiet again.

Is a ceremony going through for June? I applied Feb 2020, got approved citizenship via naturalisation March 2022. I didn't do FOI, just waited because 1. Citizenship applications were halted in 2019 while a citizenship case was being heard. 2. Covid19

When I did get the letter, it stated I can either send the €950 within a certain time frame and get my naturalisation certificate via post or else I'll be put on a waiting list for the ceremony. As fun as the ceremony would be and though I often daydreamed of that big day, I opted for the naturalisation certificate to be given by post.

Looking at some other immigration pages, looks like there are approvals sent almost every week (last approval as per timeline there was printed 21st march )

After submitting to the minister how long would take for a decision by post?

I was told 14 months ago that my application has been submitted to minister for decision but still I had to go through judicial review to get decision...

Has anyone non-EU who applied from Oct - Dec 2020 got approval? I'm aware from this forum EU people have started getting approval already, but the non-EU line seems to be forever stuck in June/July despite e-vettings being completed :(

I applied in Oct 2020 - Non-EU & I did not receive the E-vetting or heard anything from them yet since the acknowledgement and Ref number.

Anyone else did not receive E-Vetting yet ??

You might be one of the lucky few who'll receive approval without e-vetting. Keep the faith! Or else you can always write to them but it's useless imo

Thanks for the positive thought. I hope we all will hear something soon.

Because we are the only ones who know what means to wait for every day to go back home and see if there is any new post, and we all know how disappointing is to find that there is no post about the application.

Man, you spoke the heart out , it’s a everyday feeling. Since I work from home I wait every morning for the post man and when see no post , disappointed and wait for the next day - it’s a loop.

I applied in June 2020. No second letter. Received approval today. Keep the faith
Congratulations and thanks for giving us some hope! The silence has been quite depressing to be honest especially knowing that getting the passport is going to be another 3 or 4 months even.
To be honest, knowing that I am a step away from becoming Irish is more important to me than applying for the passport. So I made sure to pay the €950 and and got my declaration of fidelity filled and stamped. Haven't received the certificate of naturalisation yet but when I do, I will take it easy. If I have waited 16 months for a letter from the Minister proposing to grant citizenship, 3 months wait for a passport is defo nothing. Probably won't be even a month wait as they are getting extra staffs to help speed things up. Keep the faith. This forum has been extremely useful to me.

Certificate of naturalisation received today.

For anyone still waiting for approval, do not worry. I have never read on this forum that someone was denied. Just a matter of time and you will all be laughing. God bless

I feel your pain...I just want a decision on this. Even if that decision turns out to be a rejection, at least I'd have some closure - it's better than waiting for years and years and putting life & future planning on hold.

Your joy will be complete when you see a long brown envelope with a harp on it and citizenship written on it. It's hard to find a pattern for approval as some people who applied in January or February got approval in March 2022 while some who applied in June or July also got approval in March 2022. But at the end of the day we will all get it. Never lose hope

Congratulations for your approval, I can imagine the happiness when we get the approval or certificate however like you said there is no pattern and ‘Justice delayed is justice denied’ when people have to wait for months and years with no communication or timeline and for some people it does matter the time in life or time goes waiting for the decision.

I am non-EU, applied Feb 2020. It took 5 months after my e-vetting to get approved though the e-vetting results were disclosed to the citizenship department quickly. Got approved Feb 2022, got the naturalisation cert in March. It's expected to be a two year wait.

I just emailed them again - probably going to a black hole but better than not doing anything. Nowhere in any of my communication with them does it state its going to be a 2-year wait. The first letter says 12 months. In the timeline thread somebody who applied in Nov 2020 already got approved (most likely an EU citizen but why would EU and non-EU be any different in the eye of the law?) The entire time they have not asked for any extra document from me - no extra proofs of address, no police checks from my country - so what's the reason for the hold-up? We can always say 'sure look it's Ireland' but like somebody pointed out, some people do not have the luxury of waiting years of their life in the dark for this, especially when they have been tax-paying law-abiding resident for years.
