For the question about turn around time....
Applied Feb 2020 and I got the letter for e-vetting in September 2021.
Sept 20th, 2021.... I received the vetting request by email. September 29, 2021....Vetting was disclosed to the citizenship department
No further correspondence until February 2022, when I received the approval letter.

For the question about choosing the ceremony instead
I had the choice of declaring fidelity, submitting the money, and getting the naturalisation certificate by post or to wait for the next citizenship ceremony, no dates were set. I chose to receive the certificate by post because
1. I waited long enough and wanted to start the passport application before covid cases surge again
2. There is no guarantee the ceremonies will, indeed, commence
3. If the ceremony doesn't commence before my visa expires, I would have to pay €300 in stamp 4 renewal.
Congrats and good call for not waiting for a ceremony! I don't see any pros for choosing to wait for a ceremony to be honest. Especially since the Passport office will probably be under extra pressure after a ceremony (if it happened) and will make the passport process take even longer than it's taking now.

I emailed a few solicitors last week asking about the JR route. One of them said he is happy to help for 1K. And another advised me to wait until waiting at least 2 years (it will be 2 years in June), but she said she doesn't mind doing it for 250 euros if I insist. Given the news about the upcoming ceremony dates, I'd be really devastated if I don't get approval by June, as that might mean having to wait for the next ceremony in December, so not really sure whether to go for JR now or wait and hope for the best.

Anyone knows what's the worst thing that could happen if I go for JR before waiting two years (I applied in June 2020, so 1 year and 10 months waiting now)? I'm not really familiar with the legal details.
I don't know about JR, but the wait time for approval is said to be 2 years. Personally, I applied Feb 2020 and got approved Feb 2022. Passport applications may be processed faster soon. Passport department are hiring, closing date for applications were yesterday. My passport is to be issued early May, applied earlier this month.

After my evetting disclosure was viewed on March 22nd I was sent a letter, yesterday to send a tax clearance cert. I was expecting an approval letter, not to send more documents at this stage.

I have a feeling people who have been requested to do e-vetting take longer to receive approvals than those without. Just my observation based on the timeline thread. Interesting because e-vetting is meant to 'speed up' the process not slow down!

So how come some people do the e-vetting and got approval within a month?

If E-Vetting letter is received, is that an indication that all documents are okay and have been accepted and the person is eligible for naturalization (given that E-Vetting is successful & the person completes the rest of the process)?

I don't think so. I think any applicant can still be refuse certificate of naturalisation even after vetting and no criminal record. The decision to approve application is up to the minister.

Oh, I see!! But I guess the application wouldn't come to the E-Vetting stage if the documents submitted with the application initially are not satisfactory or the application as a whole needs more clarification or more proofs, right?

For 2021 applicants that didn't get their acknowledgement letter yet (nowadays sent after 5 months after they sent their applications) do get their payment receipt + acknowledgement letter + evetting form all together. So they are asking for eVetting request at the beginning of processing of the application.

So for 2021 applicants, it doesn't mean anything. The quickest decision was made for January 2021 applicants recently, so nowadays it takes around 15 months.

No, all applicants must be vetted regardless of the minister's decision.

I saw someone posting in 2021 or 2022 timelines that they have got all at once and thought it could be a mistake, but looks like that's possible:? It's so hard to predict what exactly goes behind this whole process.

Well it's basically acceptance to give permission ISD to do background check (eVetting) on you, when they do it is up to them, they are just asking for permission at first step.

I don't think that's how it works. In my case, I got the e-Vetting invitation + a request for bunch of other documents (P21/P60, Utility Bills, 6 months' Bank statements for every year between 2015 and 2019 , Employment Summary Detail).

Did anyone apply in 2020 and didn`t receive the E-Vetting request ??

I am so confused seeing a lot of people applying after me and getting approval while I was thinking my application is straight forwarded.
I am also wondering why I didn't receive the E-vetting request yet?

I applied in Oct 2020 (Non-EU)

You may get it or you may not, I think they made it mandatory from some point in 2021.
