Dependent visa application delay from India

Post by drijess13 » Tue Apr 19, 2022 5:02 pm

Hello everyone,

I applied for a dependent visa for myself and my daughter in Chandigarh on 1st april to join my husband who is on a skilled worker visa in UK but haven't heard anything from the home office yet.

I tried mailing them via paid service but payment failed 3 times although i entered correct details.

Do you know how long it will take?
Is there any timeline of dependent visa on this board?
Is anyone in the same boat as me?

I'm getting a bit worried on why is it taking that long for a straightforward application like this.

I would appreciate any replies. Thanks

Not healthcare, just normal.

Biometrics were on 4.4.2022

Nearly a month now.

Hi,

This may seem far fetched but it happened with me so it is not impossible. After three weeks of submitting documents, I searched in my email inbox with "UK Visa". I found a query raised 10 days back. And then I hurriedly submitted the requested documents keeping home office informed. I received my Visa two days back.

If you have already searched with this search term and not found anything yet, you may ignore this.

Best wishes,
SG

Hi SG22,

Thank you for your valuable feedback. Just to let you know, i searched for the terms in my email and also check my email regularly but nothing so far.

Called home office and asked for an update and also asked to escalate but they said they cannot escalate the case due to ukraine russia war. I tried emailing them several times but they're not taking emails anymore and it just says payment declined on the last page.

Its been nearly a month now and no response.

May i know when you applied and what was your timeline? Was it a dependent visa? A student dependent or any other category?

Thank you

Hi drijess13,

My visa was employer sponsored skilled worker. I have posted my timelines in the timelines topic (Outside UK). The visas for my dependents are also pending but it has been only 2 weeks for those visas so I'm still waiting patiently.

Yes, I also tried for sending paid email query last week for my visa but payment declined at the end. I can empathise.

Wish you good luck.
SG

I see someone else applied for his wife's dependent visa on 18th April and got a decision yesterday on 10th May. WOW! In 22 calendar days and I'm waiting since 40 days now.

I wonder if this is because I applied it with my child and there are 2 applications in consideration and if it has any impact !!!

That's strange, but the only reason I can think they got early is because both the main applicant and dependants are in the same location. From this link (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/visa-decisi ... 20the%20UK), their application timelines align with "Work or invest in the UK" whereas our likely is "Join family in the UK". I hope this helps.

Everyone's case is different. Comparing yours to others will only disappoint you. My suggestion would be to get relaxed and believe the decision will come eventually.

Hi Ywlgy,

Thanks for your reply.

I wonder if this visa comes under "Join family in UK"? Or standard dependent visa?

As the time of Join family visa is 12 weeks and I recently spoke to ukvi and they said the decision making time should be 6 weeks?

What do you think?

Also it states on gov.uk that it should take 3 weeks to process their application so I believe it does not go under "join family in uk" category

https://www.gov.uk/skilled-worker-visa/ ... d-children

"How long it takes to get a decision

Once they’ve applied online, proved their identity and provided their documents, they’ll usually get a decision within 3 weeks.

They may be able to pay to get a faster decision - they’ll be told if they can when they apply."

Skilled worker dependant should have the same waiting time as main applicant.
