Fine for Surrender of Indian Passport

Hi All,

Does any one who got documents late from HMPO , surrendered Indian Passport late ? ( After 3months of Grace period ) .

And does it incur any Fine and how much would it be ?

Could we prove that we got our docs late from HMPO and hence we couldn't surrender in time !

Please any one advise on this.

There is no fine if passport is surrendered late. The grace period of 3 months is only for using indian passport on acquiring foreign nationality in lieu of foreign passport. Even in this case, govt has stopped issuing monetary penalty.

You can submit application for surrendering Indian passport when convenient. No additional documents/justification is required. Please bear in mind, not to use the Indian passport for any travel.
