Query about Indian Passport Renewal process and timeline

Is there any thread on the procedures about Indian Passport renewal in UK?
Is there a Tatkal process and if yes, how easy it is to get the appointment?
And what is the timeline of getting the new passport currently?

Dear all,

Is there any chance they open some slots in the next few weeks which are already RED? I mean in case there is a cancellation for that date by someone?
I understand the cancellations are now happening only by email, so is there a chance when they process the cancellation on a date, they open the date up as GREEN for booking?

Also, I live in East London. Does it mean, I can only book appointments in the London Jurisdiction? Or can I book in the 4 options under Birmingham as well?
