Spouse Visa Application - Name Change

Post by Gigi_atik22 » Thu May 19, 2022 3:03 pm

Hiya, I'm new to this completely and I've had mixed responses on the matter. I have recently married my husband in Turkey and I opted to take his name upon marriage. On the marriage certificate it shows both my maiden and married name - I have not changed my name in the UK yet (passport etc) as I believed it was not a legal requirement and I was worried it would take too long to receive the passport and delay our application (we've waited 2 years). Will keeping my maiden name on my ID, Bank statements etc jeopardize my husbands chances of having his visa accepted? I just want to make sure I have everything right for it :)
Thank you in advance. :)

Tourist visa refused last year, will it affect spouse visa

Post by Gigi_atik22 » Fri May 20, 2022 6:17 pm

We applied last year for a tourist visa so my then boyfriend could visit over the Christmas for 9 days. This was denied due to my husband having not a great proof of funds and they thought he would not leave the UK. Can this affect our spouse visa application? It states we can reapply and some companies have said it doesn’t affect but a solicitors in London have advised it does affect it.

No it doesn't, but he must declare the refusal in the application where it asks.

No divorce decree from Turkey

Post by Gigi_atik22 » Sat Jun 11, 2022 7:02 am

Hi, we’ve done everything needed with our visa but our solicitor just noticed that the divorce proof from my husband is not an actual divorce decree.

However, it is proof from the civil registry. It is an official government document which states when , who , what & where etc.

We’ve been up all night trying to find where he can get a copy of the decree but to no avail. It’s not like the UK :( can this affect our visa? Our solicitor is unsure 🫤

Is there an alternative way? I cannot upload the screenshots of it either. Il try this one.
