Dependent arriving before main applicant

Post by Jacmari » Sun Jul 31, 2022 5:48 pm

Quick question.

Can a dependent of Skilled Worker arrive and enter UK before the main applicant? The main applicant (worker) has got visa and is ready to come but need extra 3 weeks. Employer is happy to wait. But the wife who is already working abroad is willing to enter UK first. Would it be possible or will immigration stop her at the port of entry?

Thank you for your help

Yeah, she could be stopped. Her visa is dependant on him. Her visa isn't valid if he isn't here.

It's a bit different if they've both been in the UK and both travelled out, but she came back home early(UK).

In my opinion, you have got the visa stamped on your passport, you have the permission to enter. Visa purpose is family unification, that has not changed. Always at the port of entry, answer questions to the point only, when asked any question. On your own, don't tell the story the main applicant is coming 3 weeks later. There is nothing wrong if you do but the border agent may get confused and may further complicate.
If probed further, tell them you are settling up the house and your spouse has things to windup and will come later.

Any visa is not a permission to enter. Always a misconception! A visa allows you to travel to the Boarder of the country in question and seek for entry.
You can and would be turned back if you don't fit the entry requirements.
Dependant visas allows you to join, not independently travel. First question is always why are you here? Then the long explanations starts from there!

I'm quite interested in this one. Please update here what happens if she decides to go through with this risky venture.
