Need information related to new PBS vs tier 2 general visa

Post by vrastogi » Wed Sep 21, 2022 1:06 pm

Respected Sir/Madam,

Good afternoon.
I am on Tier 2 general Skilled worked Visa. One year left to apply for ILR.
I am planning to switch job. Do I need to look for sponsorship job or just need a job and I can apply for PBS visa without cos letter.
1:-Just to be clearer, Do I need a job from company who has tier 2 general sponsor license and provide me the COS letter before applying for new visa or I need only a job and apply for visa based on new point-based system.
2:-Can I apply for Visa if I work on contractor role not the permanent role?
Please let me know it would be great help.

Thanks and regards,

1. Yes, you need a job offer and a new CoS to apply for a new skilled worker visa. You need to be sponsored for your visa by your prospective employer. Not sure what "new" PBS system you are referring to.

2. No, you must be employed as PAYE by your sponsor.

Hi @CR001,
Thanks a lot Sir for your kind reply.
With the new PBS, I was referring to
1:- Getting a job has some points
2:- If the salary matches to the threshold , it also has some points
3:- English language certificate has some point.
So a person need 70 points to get the visa approved.

I am not sure about the point that job offer should be from sponsored client only who can provide the COS letter. So what is the difference in new PBS and old tier 2 general visa? Please provide me any link if you are aware of.

Thanks and Regards,

Tier 2 general has been replaced by Skilled Worker and you need a sponsoring employer who can assign a CoS.

Whatever new route you are referring to, please post the ukvi link.
