Error in the Naturalization Application

Post by aben » Thu Sep 22, 2022 8:16 am

hi,

I submitted by Naturalization application last week and have my appointment early next month at UKVCAS. when I checked the application, I found I made two silly mistakes.

1. Have you made any previous UK immigration applications in the UK or abroad? My Answer was NO
2. Tell us the previous visa, entry clearance or leave to remain you had? My answer was Tier 2 General

please advise, do I have any option now? or should I worry about my application?

thanks in advance

If you can still upload documents write a covering note explaining the error and providing the necessary details.
If not you could probably ask at your appointment for UKVCAS to upload this.
Alternatively, you could email UKVI: furthernationalityenquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk
This is not something that will lead to a refusal, if you provide the details separately.

You can explain the mistake in the cover letter and give the details of your applications. You can also look into withdrawing your application and submitting it again https://www.gov.uk/cancel-visa - but I don't know the deadline to get your fee refunded.
All advice comes from personal research and experience and should not be regarded as professional opinion.

Withdrawing is not recommended - it can take weeks yo get the refund. This is not a major blunder.

Hi,

Thank you very much, I really appreciate the prompt responses.

will upload relevant documents for immigration history & I'll state this in the cover letter
1. BRP
2. home office letters I received along with my BPR for Tier 2 Extention and ILR.

regarding the 'Tell us the previous visa, I had'.
I'll state in the letter that I have Indefinite Leave to Remain.

My understanding when I fill the form, its asking about my Previous Visa / what I had in the past (not my current visa)

thanks again.
Aben

The question is about ALL the visas and ILR you have held.

You do NOT need to submit evidence of your previous visas. Simply write a brief letter stating you answered incorrectly and correct your answers in the letter.

Cover letter doesn't need a formal address. Just write a letter to whom it may concern and attach it with the rest of your documents on the system before you submit.
Everything submitted would be looked at.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
