FINALLY! Just received my son's FBR cert today, shiny harp and all :D . Much snazzier than mine from 30 years ago!
Had a bit of a run around with the confirmation email and address, as he was a minor when we applied and now is an adult and at uni...

Applied: 23 feb 2020
Docs received: 18 march 2020
Address confirmation: 21 sept - 27 sept 2022
Approval email: 4 oct 2022
Cert received 10 oct 2022

Next step - recycling the docs for my daughter!

Both my partner and I had our confirmations of documents being received on 9th March 2020. My partner had her confirmation of address and approval through about 6 weeks ago but I’ve heard nothing on my one.

Given they are apparently processed in strict date order, I’m confused as to why there are some who had documents received months later that appear ahead in the process. Happy for you all, obviously, but I’m concerned about mine.

Are there others like me who had documents received in March 2020 but that haven’t heard anything yet?

Just receive confirmation that my application has been received! I'm wondering how long it could actually take for me and others in my boat. Any estimates, predictions, and wild guesses welcome!

depending on the team or person assigned to your case, timelines can definitely vary a bit, but given your circumstances I would give them to the end of this week and then reach out to them to find out what's going on. 2 1/2 years on, you're certainly justified.

So good news. My better half got her confirmation today:

Appied 26 Feb 2020
Documents Sent and Recieved: Sometime in July 2020 and put in system 7 Oct 2020
Confirmation of Address: 12 Oct 2020

Our long national nightmare is over.

I'd be reasonably confident you would get your FBR cert in <2 years.

A few months ago, I'd have told you 2.5-3 years, but it appears that the backlog is not as big as was feared. They've gotten through the Brexit bump and they are moving through the pandemic shutdown months with great speed.

My bold prediction is they'll eventually get back to 12-18 months turnaround time.

Hi team,

Was getting quite anxious and so glad to have stumbled upon this forum.

Applied - 13.Oct 2020
Document recieved - 7 December 2020

I have change address since I posted the application nearly two years before. Does anyone know what documents I will send them to prove my new address?

Thank you in advance and good luck 🤞

This is the wording in the email - '*If you have moved address since you completed your application please provide a scanned copy of proof of your new address eg. utility bill, bank statement, government correspondence.'

I sent a recent utility bill, so will let you know if that works.

Can I just check, should your confirmation of address read as 12 Oct 2022?! If it does then that's MASSIVE news for the rest of us waiting if they're that far into 2020!!!

A week ago I pop in and they jumped from March to May. Now they are on October?

They aren't half zooming through are they. Makes me, a January 2022 applicant quite optimistic for hearing back potentially next year.

Yes it's 2022. They were sent in July 2020 but when we did an inquiry they told us 7 Oct. I'm guessing that date was when it was put in the system since they were closed Until the end of August.

Hello everyone,

I have been following this timeline since 2020. My wife and her brother have applied to be FBR'd in June 2020. Documents were received sometime in July 2020. They have received a clarification email yesterday (12 Oct 2022) to evidence the catholic confirmation names of their Irish mother (born outside Ireland) and grandmother(born in Ireland).

Both their mother and grandmother have confirmation names written in some documents. For example, my wife's birth certificate has her mother's confirmation name added and her grandmother's death certificate has hers added. however, these names are not shown on their birth certificates or passport.

Plan: Letter from their mother addressing how these names came about.
Has anyone encountered this issue? If yes, how did they overcome it?

Anything would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

I see they are now steaming through applications so presumably the redeployed staff sent to passports are now back at their desks. I got my address email on 30th September 2022 but still haven't received the congrats email. In light of them no longer appearing to be short staffed and the fact that most receive the congrats email within a few days - should I be concerned?

**UPDATE**

Finally!!!!!!! and way faster than I assumed given my documents accepted date. Details below:

Online application filed: 19 Feb 2020
Documents received in Dublin: July 2020 (date unspecified)
Address confirmation email: 11 Oct 2022

Its almost over......

Thanks for this forum, it kept me sane. Will update as I keep receiving emails.

Hi Everyone,

Long time lurker as this forum has kept my hopes alive. Need to vent though! Applied and sent documents in June 2020 (never got confirmation of documents arrived, but I tracked them via mail). I see all these July-October approvals so I finally called the urgent number. After 28 months I feel I deserve some communication, I mean they did take my money. Guy answered phone was no help, gave me an email- no reply. Just frustrated. I have my citizenship and passport, this application was for my son who was born while I was an Irish citizen. I was OCD with my documents.

Cannot wait for this entire ordeal to be over. Beyond frustrated.

Sorry!

Totally with you, I fully appreciate they’ve had covid and an associated backlog to contend with, but the communication is beyond shocking.

Does anybody know what the usual wait time for a reply from the urgent email address is? I was advised via their phone contact to email it as they are well past processing my batch (March 2020 docs received).

My husband got a reply to MY email within 48 hours of it being sent 'our time' (we currently live in Canada.) Like most government services they've locked down communication to avoid 'distractions'. ;)

With 11 weeks still to go until Hogmanay, I'm hoping our July 2021 received documents will be getting worked on at this rate!!! ;) :D :D
