Incorrect arrival stamp by immigration officer

Post by mmssaa » Sun Nov 06, 2022 7:57 pm

Hi there,

When I returned to Ireland from my native country in May 2022, the immigration officer at Dublin Airport stamped my passport with an arrival stamp. The year on the stamp is wrong, though. He stamped "May 2025" instead of "May 2022."

I see that in addition to the citizenship application, I must submit the "naturalization calculator" (https://www.irishimmigration.ie/natural ... alculator/), which includes a list of each passport stamp.

Will the wrongly stamped year on my passport cause any issues when I submit my naturalization application in the future?

That's weird since all the stamps I had have the date hardcoded. Did he write it in manually or?
I say you'll be fine if you put the stamp according to your actual arrival date; it can't be May 2025, however you count.
You can (and, probably, should) include this in a cover letter.

Nope, he didn't write it manually. It was a stamp. You can check the photo of the stamp here → https://ibb.co/PYJbFW0

I will include this in the cover letter when the time comes, thanks for the advice.

Can I send it by email to someone only to show later as evidence that I informed them?

That’s a funny one for sure. You don’t have to type in dates of your entry/leave to naturalization calculator. Only the dates of your immigration stamps which is related with your IRP card.

I am sure there was an email for border police in Dublin Airport but I couldn’t find it. I found the police station’s phone number here https://www.garda.ie/garda/en/contact-u ... rport.html

Not sure if they can point you to right direction but you can send an email also to get some written info

That stamp doesn’t have any use at all. You can simply ignore it, but if you want to be on the safe side you can always give BMU a quick email.
