How to calculate permitted absence time before Settled Status lapses?

Hi all

Settled Status allows the holder to spend 5 years outside the uk without losing the status, but this 5 years is not clearly defined so i would like some clarity please.

If I spend 4.5 years outside, then 1 month inside UK, then another 4 years outside, will I lose the status?

Does that 1 month residence in the UK reset the 5 years clock?

yes, resets to 5 years again but if you want citizenship, must stay in UK for certain number of days to be eligible.
