British Citizen via Asylum route

Post by Shade2212 » Thu Jan 26, 2023 12:05 pm

Hi
I have a question if someone could help. I claimed asylum 8 years ago and HO kept my passport and issued me a travel document but now I am British Citizen. So I like to know what is the way to request HO to send me my passport back which the kept it? any advice please. Thanks

Why do you need the original passport back?
I am not a lawyer or immigration advisor. My statements/comments do not constitute legal advice. E&OE. Please do not PM me for advice.

You can ask HO to send you that passport or you can make a new passport from your embassy .I don't think there should be an issue as you are no more a refugee ,hence ,why apply refugee law on yourself when you are not a refugee anymore? People have different opinions on it & frankly there is no explanation in the law either of the UN or HO in regards to such circumstances.

you can contact the Travel Document department (where your original passport was kept) using this email and ask them that you need your passport back
