minor adopted by polish citizen - how to get polish passport

Post by lukk » Fri Jan 27, 2023 9:29 am

Hi,

I am trying to get a polish passport for my son whom I adopted a year ago in Ireland. Has anyone gone through this?

According to the law he should acquire polish nationality automatically but what do I need to do to have it registered? Do I go straight to the Urzad Miejski / USC to get him a polish security number / ID card first or is there a special way? I have Irish birth certificate for him we me shown as the father. The certificate mentions though the entry into the adoption registry - it is somewhat different to the usual one.

Where are you resident? In Ireland?

In any case you should contact the Polish Consulate or Embassy relevant to your place of legal residence.
