Traveling from Dublin to Eu

Post by Djangoo » Thu Feb 16, 2023 8:56 pm

Can you depart from Dublin to Eu countries if you went to Dublin from the U.K by car (obviously not having been through any passport control)
What would happen? Are there any controls?

Each EU country still has border police forces who can stop, request paperwork and question travellers. What is it you are expecting or wish to achieve? And carriers need to be satisfied you have the appropriate papers.

You'll have to go through passport control leaving UK I assume. Neither Irish nor UK residency permits give rights to travel to EU.

Find out what you need for each country before travelling.

Travelling from the UK to The Republic of Ireland by air or by sea would require you getting a visa, if you don't have visa free travel.
However, travelling from the Great Britain to Northern Ireland is fine with a UK residency or visa. Travelling from Northern Ireland to Republic of Ireland can be done by road, but this is illegal if you don't have the visa required.

Travelling from Ireland back to UK, you don't go through passport control when you land here in the UK. But you go through passport control when you travel from the UK to Ireland.

The UK and the island of Ireland are surrounded by sea. So the only way to travel to mainland Europe is to travel by sea, road (ferry still required), rail or by air. At both ends, passport and visas would be looked at and stamped.

So the simple answer is NO.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
