Long Term Residency Timelines

Post by FidoDido29 » Tue Jan 24, 2023 4:14 pm

Hi,

I am looking for some information about timelines for Long term Residency.

https://www.irishimmigration.ie/my-situ ... residency/

Would there be anybody in this group who applied recently and got approved?

How long was the processing times?

If approved and you had recently renewed your IRP card did you have to pay e300 again?

I applied in Feb 22 and got approved in June 22. So for me it took 4 months. I read somewhere that nowadays it takes around 1 month. But I don't know.

You pay €300 again along with €500 application fee upon approval.

1 month is great. So, instead of applying for 1 year stamp 4 after completing applying for Long Term Residency would make more sense as stamp 4 will only be issued for 1 year and will have to be renewed every year.

Hi, what stamp do you have in the passport / IRP for Long Term Residency? It's different from Stamp 5 isn't it?

What's the benefit of the LTR Stamp 4 (5 years) vs the regular Stamp 4 (2 years) apart from the duration of validity? Are there any additional privileges that the 2y stamp 4 doesn't have?

Don't think so. It's your validity, plus spouses can switch to a longer 1G/3 instead of renewing it every year.

Not sure but maybe extra allowance from being away from the country? Instead of usual 6 weeks, it's up to 3 months I guess?

Don't think there's any difference between Stamp 4 types in this regard (not counting EUFAM) - post1968910.html#p1968910 . 6 week rule is important when you apply for citizenship, not for ability to renew your permission.

This is what it says on the website: https://www.irishimmigration.ie/my-situ ... residency/

Generally, periods of absence from the State in a calendar year, either a single absence or cumulative absences, should not exceed 90 days. Please note that long absences form the state may impact any future citizenship application you may wish to make.

What I mean is Stamp 4 given for 2 years after CSEP will also be subject to 90 day absence limit, so no difference there. Not sure where 6 weeks is coming from at all.
