Overall job market!!!
Unfortunately that is true. Due to the current economic downturn as well as due to end of year fast approaching, there are hardly any movement in the market.

job market?

Post by ghulbhai » Thu Dec 04, 2008 5:32 am

you have to be kidding if you say there is a job market ?

i have 8+ years experience...

tried project manager jobs - no calls

tried c#, c++, .net, asp.net jobs - 4 or 5 calls in 4 months, 1 interview over phone, 15 minutes, answered all the questions well. no look back.

tried java ones, j2ee, spring hibernate, xml, jboss and stuff.. 7+ calls in 4 months, again 2 phone interviews, 1 interview - i didnt do well - was my first in the first week of august, curse me. 2nd interview i did pretty pretty well, was over the moon to get an offer.

i continue to be begging for jobs.

and last 45 days before i hit back home to india. mid of jan is my deadline. i will come back by july-aug 09... lets see .. but until then dont kid about the job market...

hey ramesh,
i came back from UK by march end. 3rd week / end of april i got a job in pune. 8 months of night mare in the uk without job.

atleast im happy getting 12.5L pa in pune. i can save 5 lacs per annum after expesnse.

infact when i was looking for jobs the jobsites used to show 120k number of jobs.. now its only showing 85k number of jobs... torture man.

and if you say hsmp they wont even call you buggers. majority jobs ask security clearance and you are not eligible man. you have to have british passport.. hsmp is not ok for them. i am sorry to say - its a useless country man. a big lesson in life for me to stay in india and enjoy our life.

if you are fresher / one-two year experience i think you will find some jobs.. but if you are looking at more than 5-6 year experienced positions, then number of jobs is less and competition is also heavy man.

mohd...

Why are you telling it is easy to find 2-3 year experience jobs? I dont know how you are telling this bullshit. You should try for such jobs then you will know. I have been trying for many junior positions and dont even get interview calls...

overall IT market is depressing that much i can say.

I think Islamul mentioned long back and may be some of us didnt heed. I have also tried and failed during my time. My husband (non IT) is getting over with his contract this month end and we set a deadline of May. I think we would wind up by June from here.. I have also tried my best all these months and there is no hope here to stay any longer and waste more money.

Rather it is prudent to do something constructive elsewhere.

May be I will come back after 1 year. But that is too far to think of. The market is not picking up at all to be honest.
