Green Card and Citizenship Through Job Visa

Post by benjamintrevor » Mon Apr 24, 2023 1:32 pm

I'm currently living in the UK.
But, in the UK you can't bring your parents permanently.
That's why I'm planning to migrate to the USA through an employer.
From my understanding, one has to be USA citizen before they sponsor parents, right?
So what the process looks like and how long it takes from a work visa to a green card to citizenship?

Thanks in advance.

As a general rule, you must have lived in the country for at least five years as a Green Card holder before you can apply for U.S. citizenship (or three years, if married to a United States citizen).

Lawful permanent residents (LPRs), also known as “green card” holders, are non-citizens who are lawfully authorized to live permanently within the United States.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
