BC spouse divorce in progress

Post by Colours990 » Wed Aug 16, 2023 8:33 pm

Hello everyone,

I am awaiting for the outcome of my British Citizenship of the following criteria;

Eligibility criteria: 5 years Spouse of BC + 1 month ILR
Nationality: (Non-EU)
Method of application: Online

Applied for citizenship through the 3-year route after ILR.

Sadly, my relationship has broken-down and a divorce is in progress, currently at decree nisi stage

For the sake clarity:

1. Will divorce in progress have an impact on my pending British Citizenship application?
2. If decree absolute reached while the application is pending, should I notify the HO?

Thanks

Sorry to hear about your divorce.

How long ago did you apply?

The requirements is that you're married to BC when you apply. In my opinion, you're still officially married to a BC until otherwise. You should be fine.
No sin in failing, you just have to try and try again!
