Naturalisation process

Post by user9596 » Sun Sep 03, 2023 12:38 pm

Hi all,

I would like to submit an application for Irish naturalisation but I have few questions for which I am unclear and seek guidance. :)

I received a Critical skills work permit valid from 25/05/2020 but I have received the following IRP's dated:
- Stamp 1 - 02/11/2020 --> 02/11/2021
- Stamp 1 - 05/12/2021 --> 05/12/2022
- Stamp 4 - 10/07/2022 --> 31/07/2024
- (future renewal of stamp 4)

1) As reckonable residence can I count from 25/05/2020 (date of work permit) or does it starts only from date of issue of my first Stamp 1 (02/11/2020) ?
I started working from the work permit date and I would lose a significant amounts of months if the application is based on date of issue of stamp 1.

2) During those years I have travelled abroad but always under 6 weeks, still will those days of travel need to be added onto the reckonable residency period like 5 years + 10 days, etc ?

I am asking the above as I am trying to figure out the date of which I can send my application and I am confused as whether it will be 25/05/2025 or 02/11/2025 or more depending on holidays taken over the last years.

Thank you very much for your help!

What's your full immigration history? When did you come into Ireland (and on what basis)? If you started working right after your CSEP was issued, did you work remotely or were you on a different stamp?

Of course, if you work remotely, it doesn't count for reckonable residence.

It's not a single trip for 6 weeks, it's 6 weeks (or I think 70 days now) in each year.
You have to add your holidays up and if they're over the threshold for the year, you add this amount of days to the amount of reckonable residence you need to get.
