Widow of UK Citizen wants to enter UK from South Afria

Post by ziglar » Sun Oct 01, 2023 6:45 pm

Hi, my sister in law (55 years old) was married to UK citizen (my wife's brother) who died about 2 years ago in SA.

She is now looking for a new start and would like to consider if one of her options is emigrating to the UK to live and work.

Could someone give some advice or point me to a source of info so I can research on her behalf..

Many Thanks

Maybe this is a good start point, UK government information on what visa are available for work:

If the question is "does being the widow or widower of a British citizen open up any immigration options for your sister in law?", the answer is no.

The answer would have been different if she had moved to the UK as the spouse of a British citizen and then the British citizen spouse would have died.

But in this case, as the British citizen side is already dead, it is too late to start the immigration journey on that route.

She will need to qualify as a migrant on a skilled worker route, just like anybody else.
