Expired BRP card lost so cannot be returned to HO

Dear Forum,

A friend of mine was granted ILR recently and are waiting for their ILR BRP card to arrive. They also realize that they could not find their old BRP card which is now expired. What should they do? They would expect home office to ask them return their old expired BRP card once they receive their new BRP, but since their old BRP card has lost, they cannot return it to home office.

Well they can't return what they haven't got. For peace of mind they could send a letter explaining to the address given for returned cards, and maybe enclose a copy of the old card. I doubt there'll be any comeback.
