RichM wrote:I have also applied from UK on 8th Dec. WP to Tier 1

Have few queries..

1. Does my WP becomes invalid after getting the Tier 1 Stamp
2. Do I need to go outside country and enter again for validating stamp?
3. Is there any timeframe within which I need to re-enter UK after Tier 1
4. Can I continue with existing employer without declaring change in status from WP to Tier 1?

Please let me know,
RichM, you have asked some very interesting questions. I have received my Tier 1 last week and would like to know if i should tell my employer about it. I was on WP prior to tier 1. Can someone share knowledge on this. Thank you.

2. No, You don't have to go outside country for vaildating the Tier 1 visa.
3. As answer tp ur 2nd Qn. is no so 3rd Q dosen't come into the picture.
4. Yes, you can continue with the existing employer without saying them the change in status from WP to Tier 1.

Many Thanks Dilip.

Can someone who has done switching within UK from WP to Tier 1 please confirm this.
- No entry clearance or re-entry in UK is required after switching within UK to Tier 1

Also is there any mail ID or phone number where we can contact UK BA home office?

We appreciate the tension/ nerves involved in any immigration related application especially where processing times are uncertain. This is particularly obvious from the HSMP perspective. Understandably people will want to know where others stand in relation to their position. However such concerns can manifest themselves in questions of a fairly rhetorical nature e.g.

"What applications are being processed"

"Can anyone tell me about the success of my application submitted on date x, payment deducted on date y?"

The moderators have noticed with some concern that such rhetorical questions have recently and repeatedly featured on the forum. With all due respect to the posters these do not add value to the board and can actually clutter up the database. We therefore believe that it is in the best interest of all for our visitors/ members to refrain from posting such. Obviously we do not want to stop the 'contributing in good faith' spirit of the board - a useful approach may be to ask before posting "is this necessary/ helpful?"

Please refer to the FAQ announcement and Consolidated Useful Posts sticky - there is plenty of information there on processing times and we shall endeavour to keep that current. Likewise please consult the FAQ and do a basic search on the forum before posting - I still note questions along the lines of "do I need to submit a passport with my HSMP appplication?".

We regret that posts deemed in all fairness to be rhetorical and non value adding will henceforth get deleted likely without notice. Thank you for your understanding and do feel free to constructively comment on this.

RichM - Is the timescale quoted by the website applicable for UK applications only or for all sites?

I too had applied on 08/12 from Mumbai, India and still waiting for a response!

Thanks.

Harakiri,

Not sure about this. So far what ever I have seen for past 3 weaks, it seems the timelines are applicable to all applicants.
As I have not noticed any difference for people appying in UK or India

Re: Rejection due to difference in names

Post by here4tier1 » Tue Jan 06, 2009 2:09 pm

Hi Guys,

I had the same problem but I got my Tier-1(in Oct08) without any issues.
I provided them with a statutory declaration (signed in front of Notary Public.). Btw, I was in UK while applied and the declaration was prepared by a UK notary.

piyush123 wrote:Hi viralshah,

Its really sad to hear that ur visa got rejected. Infact when I have applied for HSMP, I have also provided an affidavit for my name conflict on Passport(having 'Kumar' as middle name in passport) and degree. But that time they have accepted that and issued me a HSMP letter with the name same as on my degree.

May be they have changed their procedure now and asking for letter from university.

Did you decided something on that?

good luck.

Regards.

viralshah wrote:My Tier-1 application has been rejected after 2 months due to difference in names on my passport and degree certificate.

Passport: SHAH VIRALKUMAR MAHESHKUMAR
Degree: SHAH VIRAL MAHESHBHAI

They didn't consider an affidavit with the application and have asked for a letter from independent institution, most probably university or college to verify the degree.

Has anyone got similar sort of case? Any help would be highly appreciated.

Many Thanks,
Viral

They send it via Recorded First Class Delivery of Royal Mail.

Thanks for replying.

I have used a notorized affidavit for all my previous WP applications and that worked. This time they mentioned about a letter from awarding institution that could have been considered. So I got such letter from uni and have reapplied.

Switching from WP -> Tier1 General (In Country application)
Application posted : 05th Aug 08
Received letter confirmation : 07th Aug 08

I have called them hundreds of time and they have the same old reply, that the case is under consideration and that HO will contact me if more information is required. Sick and tired of this response from them.

Questions
=======
1. Is anything aware of the maximum number of weeks that HO can hold the application?
2. Some guidance needed in case i think about withdrawing the application, do they send any cover letter once the application is sent back to us??
3. If i ask for an UT (my mom is sick back home in India and need to see her), will they confirm via letter if the UT is accepted?

Thanks,
Raj
